Hi, How Can We Help You?

Brazil: passport holders from the United States, Canada, and Australia will require a visa to enter Brazil starting April 10, 2024

UPDATE: The postponement has been extended. The rule change is now scheduled to go into effect on April 10, 2025.

Visa exemptions for nationals of the United States, Canada, and Australia will be removed starting April 10, 2024. The change was originally slated to begin on January 10th, but the Brazilian government announced a 3-month postponement.

Under this new rule, nationals from the United States, Canada, and Australia will need to apply for an eVisa online to enter Brazil for a stay not exceeding 90 days as visitors for purposes including tourism, business, and seminars or conferences. Other nationalities will continue using the Consular Visa process, as applicable.

The Brazilian government authorized VFS to process eVisa applications. The eVisa will be issued electronically and should be printed. Please note that if the eVisa is denied, it won’t be possible to resubmit it online and you would then need to apply for a Consular Visa. The current average processing time for an eVisa application is typically 5 business days. However, this is not guaranteed and it is subject to change.
