Reports on Executive Order to Suspend US Entry for Citizens of Certain Countries

There are reports circulating that President Trump will sign an executive order suspending entrance to the US for citizens of certain countries. According to anonymous officials, 43 countries are purported to be on the list, divided into three categories of travel restrictions.

Group 1: Full Visa Suspension

The first group likely facing full visa suspension includes:

  • Afghanistan
  • Iran
  • Syria
  • Cuba
  • North Korea

Group 2: Partial Visa Suspension with Exceptions

The second group, which would likely face partial suspensions affecting tourist and student visas as well as other immigrant visas, with some exceptions, includes:

  • Eritrea
  • Haiti
  • Laos
  • Myanmar
  • South Sudan

Group 3: Partial Visa Suspension

The third group, a total of 26 countries that includes Belarus, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, would be considered for a partial suspension of US visa issuance.

Current Reports and Concerns

There have been reports of H-1B visa holders returning from Lebanon being stopped by Customs and Border Patrol and denied entry to the US.

Unanswered Questions
